SINGAPORE — The 4th Blue Dragon Series Awards took place on July 18 at Paradise City in Incheon. While the night celebrated standout performances in Korean drama and variety, it was the off-script moments that truly had everyone talking.
Let’s just say this wasn’t your typical awards night.
IU’s Acceptance Speech Had Everyone Feeling Things
IU won Best Actress for When Life Gives You Tangerine, and her speech was simple yet deeply moving. She spoke from the heart, letting the emotions of the drama carry through in her words.
“It was an honor to be part of this project, and I truly enjoyed it. In a world that pressures us to live vaguely, I want to express my deepest respect and gratitude to the Ae-soons who live with clarity, and to the Geum-myungs who boldly follow their desires.”
Her message was quiet but powerful, leaving a strong impression on both fans and fellow actors.
Lee Kwang Soo Wins Big, Thanks to Doh Kyung Soo’s Odd Dream
Lee Kwang Soo picked up Best Supporting Actor for Unlucky Fate, but his speech quickly took a turn that no one expected.
“Doh Kyung Soo told me this morning that he had a dream I died from an infection during a hair transplant,” he said, triggering a wave of laughter throughout the venue.
“I got so annoyed I cursed at him and hung up. But on the way here, I looked it up, and apparently it’s a good omen. So thank you, Do Kyung-soo.”
Only Kwang Soo could turn something that bizarre into comedy gold on an awards stage.
Lee Jun Young’s Mix-up Leads to a Wholesome Exchange
One of the most talked-about moments came when Lee Jun Young accidentally walked up to accept the Popular Star Award, thinking his name had been called. The award actually went to Lee Jun Hyuk.
Lee Jun Young quickly addressed the situation on Instagram.
“I couldn’t hear clearly at the venue and ended up making a ridiculous mistake. I sincerely apologize once again to senior Lee Jun-hyuk and to his fans. Congratulations on your well-deserved award.”
Lee Jun Hyuk handled the moment with good humor. During his speech, he said,
“I was hoping something funny would happen when I got an award, and well, here it is.”
He later posted a lighthearted message online.
“Jun Young, thanks for the laugh. Don’t stress over it. I made the same mistake at the AAA. I guess this is fate. Let’s have a meal sometime.”
Jun Young responded with warmth.
“Thanks to your kind heart, I think I’ll be able to sleep peacefully tonight. I’ll reach out soon, hyung.”
The moment could have been awkward, but it turned into something endearing. Fans loved seeing the mutual respect between the two, and some even called it the start of a new sunbae-hoobae duo.
