SEOUL — SHINee’s Minho is set to captivate audiences once again, this time on the theater stage. The multi-talented artist has been cast as the lead in the upcoming play ‘Rendezvous,’ further solidifying his presence in the world of acting.
Written and directed by Yossef K. Junghan (Kim Junghan), ‘Rendezvous’ tells the poignant story of two individuals burdened by life’s struggles who unexpectedly cross paths, finding solace in each other as they heal and grow closer.
Minho takes on the role of Taeseop, a rocket research developer battling obsessive-compulsive tendencies caused by childhood trauma. His structured life takes a turn when he meets Jihee (played by Kim Hari), the daughter of a Chinese restaurant owner he regularly orders from. As their interactions deepen, Taeseop slowly begins to confront his fears of change—a complex emotional journey that Minho will bring to life through his expressive performance.
Adding to the intrigue, ‘Rendezvous’ features an innovative stage design, incorporating a rectangular runway-style structure reminiscent of a fashion show, along with a moving treadmill. The play’s 100-minute runtime is uniquely staged with no exits, relying entirely on the chemistry and acting prowess of its two lead performers. This immersive setup is expected to spotlight Minho’s dynamic stage presence, allowing audiences to experience his artistry up close.
Minho first made his theater debut in ‘Waiting for Godot,’ where he portrayed Bell, earning critical acclaim for his seamless portrayal and helping the production achieve a sold-out run. With his rising reputation as a “dark horse” in the theater world, expectations are high for his performance in Rendezvous and the new depth he will bring to the stage.
