NewJeans’ Official Statement
“Hello, this is Minzy, Hani, Daniel, Haerin, and Hyein.
The five of us will terminate our exclusive contracts with ADOR as of November 29, 2024, and will continue our activities freely away from Hive and ADOR. ADOR is the agency that signed an exclusive contract with us and has a duty to manage us faithfully for our benefit.
The five of us made our final request to ADOR on November 13, 2024, asking them to correct their breach of duty. The 14-day correction request period has passed, but ADOR has refused to correct any of the issues for which we requested correction, and none of the issues for which we requested correction have been resolved.
The five of us have made several correction requests to ADOR over the past few months. However, ADOR has consistently responded with evasions and excuses. We would like to make it clear that true communication with mutual respect has not been achieved because of Adore.
The five of us have demanded specific actions from ADOR in our correction request. However, ADOR has not taken any corrective action even after business hours, and in light of the remaining period of the corrective action request, it has become physically impossible to correct the situation. As such, the five of us held an emergency press conference yesterday, so ADOR’s claim that we did not wait for ADOR’s response is nothing more than a play on words.
The five of us hereby notify ADOR of our termination as ADOR has violated its obligations under the exclusive contract and has not corrected the situation within the corrective action request period. This termination notice is in accordance with the exclusive contract, and the five of us have personally signed the termination notice document. The notice will take effect immediately upon reaching ADOR on November 29, 2024. In other words, the exclusive contract is invalid from that point on. Therefore, there is no reason to file an injunction to terminate the exclusive contract, and we can freely pursue our activities from November 29, 2024.
In addition, the five of us have faithfully fulfilled our obligations under the exclusive contract as artists under ADOR. Since the termination of the exclusive contract was solely due to ADOR’s breach of duty, the five of us are not obligated to pay the penalty.
The five of us do not want any harm to others due to the termination of the exclusive contract. We will faithfully fulfill all contractual obligations entered into between ADOR and others prior to the termination.
The decision of the five of us was made after much deliberation. The five of us can no longer remain with ADOR, which does not fulfill its basic duty to protect its artists, and maintaining the exclusive contract will only cause us extreme mental pain. Therefore, the five of us have come to the conclusion that we have no choice but to leave ADOR.
In addition, the five of us have been hurt and shocked by numerous media plays based on false facts. We hope that this situation will not occur after the termination of the exclusive contract.
The five of us will continue to do our best to present good music in the future. We would appreciate it if you would watch over the future of the five of us and support us.”
While their decision marks the end of their journey with ADOR, it signals the beginning of an exciting new era for these talented artists.
