June 13 – SM Entertainment has filed a lawsuit against EXO members Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin, collectively known as CBX, demanding the Contract Dispute of their contract. The lawsuit was submitted to the Seoul Eastern District Court, as reported by the legal newspaper. SM claims the lawsuit is a response to what it describes as the “unconventional behavior of the artists.”
On June 10, EXO CBX, represented by INB100, held an emergency press conference to address allegations of unfair treatment by SM. Lawyer Lee Jae-hak attended on behalf of CBX, asserting that SM had failed to honor its promised 5.5% music distribution fee and demanded 10% of the artists’ personal activity sales.
Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin terminated their exclusive contracts with SM in June last year after initially signing in December 2022. In response to SM’s lawsuit, INB100 and CBX issued a statement demanding SM clarify the criteria for their actions. They vowed to pursue all civil and criminal avenues to hold SM accountable for defamation and spreading false information.
