EXO’s Kai and Sehun are set to make their debut as a duo this December, bringing together two of the group’s most recognised performers for a new chapter in their musical careers.
According Newsen, the two members will officially launch their subunit next month. While further details about their debut have yet to be announced, the news has already given fans something to look forward to before the year ends.
Kai and Sehun, both born in 1994, have been known among EXO-Ls as the “94z.” Another familiar nickname is “SEKAI,” a combination of Sehun and Kai’s names that fans have used over the years.
Although this will mark their official debut as a duo, the two are no strangers to performing together. Sehun previously made a surprise appearance at Kai’s solo concert, joining him onstage for a special performance. Their friendship has also been seen beyond music, including their appearance on the variety programme Jeongwaja.
What Can Fans Expect From Kai and Sehun’s New Subunit?
With Kai and Sehun both known for their dancing and stage presence, their upcoming debut opens up possibilities for a performance-focused release.
Kai has established his own musical identity through his solo career, while Sehun has continued to showcase his performance abilities through EXO’s group activities and previous EXO-SC promotions alongside Chanyeol.
Their different strengths could bring a fresh dynamic to the new unit, particularly when it comes to choreography, musical direction and stage performances.
Beyond their music debut, fans can also expect to see more of the duo through variety programmes and other content. Kai and Sehun are scheduled to appear together on World Dice Tour 4, adding another project to their upcoming activities.
For now, the official subunit name, debut concept, album details and release date remain unannounced.
With December approaching, attention now turns to what kind of music Kai and Sehun will introduce as a duo and whether their long-standing fan nickname, “SEKAI,” will become part of their official identity.
