SINGAPORE —G-Dragon swept four major titles at the 2025 MAMA Awards in Hong Kong, taking home Best Dance Performance Male Solo, Fans’ Choice Male Top 10, Best Male Artist and the night’s highest honor, Artist of the Year.
As he held the trophy, he said, “I am so glad to see you again. After receiving the Solo Dance Performance award, I am truly grateful to also receive the Male Artist award. I kept thinking of my members, my family, my friends, and I want to share this honor with the team members who have been supporting me. This is actually the second time I am receiving an award, and I hope that next year or whenever the opportunity comes, I will have the chance to present an award to actor Lee Soo Hyuk like this. Thank you.”
Later in the ceremony, G-Dragon returned to the stage for one of the most anticipated highlights of the night. The Artist of the Year Daesang, one of the top categories of MAMA, was presented to him directly by Chow Yun Fat. The moment carried an added weight, as the Hong Kong legend had just led the audience in a solemn tribute for the victims of the Tai Po fire tragedy.
Receiving the trophy from someone he has admired all his life clearly moved him. With a bright smile, G-Dragon shared, “It is an honor to receive this award from my eternal icon,” expressing how meaningful the moment was for him.
He then hinted at something even bigger. With BIGBANG approaching their twentieth anniversary in the coming year, he said he hoped he would not be standing alone next time, lightly signaling his hope for a group return. The crowd picked up instantly on the implication, turning the speech into one of the most talked about moments of the show.
G-Dragon’s double win, paired with his subtle nod to BIGBANG’s future, marked his presence as one of the central figures of this year’s ceremony.
