IU and Lee Jong Suk Confirm Breakup, Decide to Remain Good Colleagues

SINGAPORE: Singer-actress IU and actor Lee Jong Suk have officially ended their 4 years romantic relationship.

On July 10, IU’s agency, EDAM Entertainment, confirmed the news, sharing that the two have decided to remain good colleagues. Lee Jong Suk’s agency, Ace Factory, also confirmed that the couple has gone their separate ways.

IU and Lee Jong Suk first met in 2012 while serving as MCs for SBS’s Inkigayo. After years of friendship, they confirmed their relationship in late 2022 and became one of South Korea’s most well-known celebrity couples. During their time together, they were often admired by fans for quietly supporting one another and for their charitable donations during the year-end holiday season.

IU debuted as a solo artist in 2008 and has grown into one of South Korea’s most successful singers, releasing hit songs including “Good Day,” “You & I,” “The Red Shoes,” “Friday,” and “Through the Night.” She has also established herself as an acclaimed actress through projects such as Dream High, My Mister, Hotel Del Luna, Broker, and When Life Gives You Tangerines.

Lee Jong Suk began his career as a model in 2005 before becoming one of Korea’s leading actors. His notable works include Secret Garden, School 2013, I Can Hear Your Voice, Doctor Stranger, Pinocchio, While You Were Sleeping, Big Mouth, and most recently, Law and the City.

Although their romantic relationship has come to an end, both agencies confirmed that IU and Lee Jong Suk will continue supporting each other as colleagues while focusing on their respective careers.
