EXO is set to return with a powerful group performance that leans into their signature SMP style.
On Jan 7, SM Entertainment announced that EXO will make their comeback on January 19 with their eighth full album, ‘REVERXE,’ featuring an SMP (SM Music Performance) style title track. SMP refers to the intense, performance-focused music style long associated with SM Entertainment artists.
The album’s title track, ‘Crown,’ is a hard dance song that combines Atlanta trap drums, heavy metal guitar, and EDM synths. The lyrics compare a precious loved one to a crown sought after by many, expressing a determination to protect what matters most until the end.
The ‘Crown’ performance includes eight dancers and incorporates symbolic elements from EXO’s universe. During the choreography, the members perform a key point move that reflects the act of taking a crown and placing it on their heads, aligning closely with the song’s message.
The choreography was co-created by choreographers J-RICK and Bada Lee and focuses on strong group formations. It highlights EXO’s presence as a full team while also allowing each member’s individuality to stand out.
EXO previously teased that the title track would follow an SMP style during their year-end fan meeting. They also previewed their performance direction at the 2025 Melon Music Awards with a stage for the b-side track ‘Back It Up,’ raising expectations for the ‘Crown’ performance.
EXO’s eighth full-length album ‘REVERXE’ features nine tracks and will be released on January 19 at 6 PM KST.
